How I Bought a Bead Business (aka… this was NOT a smooth ride 😅)
Share
If you’ve ever thought about buying a business and imagined it being a clean, straightforward process… I’m about to gently ruin that illusion for you. You're welcome.
Because this?
This was a journey.
It actually started back in 2024.
I saw B&B Craft Supplies listed for sale and immediately thought: “That is SO cool.”
Like… not just “interesting”… but pulling at me kind of cool.
I even went as far as requesting the NDA.
And then… life happened.
You know those moments where everything shifts, priorities change, and suddenly the thing you were excited about gets pushed to the side?
Yeah. That.
Fast forward to 2025.
I was recovering from an adult tonsillectomy (0/10, do NOT recommend 😅), waiting on pathology results, not exactly living my best life… and somehow ended up checking back in on the business.
And what did I see?
Sold.
I was honestly so disappointed.
Not even just from a business perspective—but because I had my eye on the retro monstera bead and really wanted to order it 😂
But then… plot twist.
A few weeks later?
Not sold.
And that was it.
That feeling came right back and I just knew—this is my moment.
I reached out to Jayd, signed the NDA, and we got the ball rolling.
Now let me be very clear…
This was not a smooth process.
Jayd had been burned by a previous “buyer,” so understandably, there were hesitations.
And on my end? It felt like I was hitting roadblock after roadblock.
But here’s the thing—
We both wanted it to work.
And that made all the difference.
Jayd mentioned she had worked with her local Community Futures and suggested I connect with my local chapter.
And honestly?
That’s where the magic happened.
I was connected with an incredible team of consultants and board members who actually believed in what I was trying to do.
I wrote a full business plan (which… let’s be honest, felt very official and slightly terrifying), and for the first time, things started to feel…
Less chaotic.
Less “figure it out as you go.”
More real.
From May to September, it was nonstop:
📞 Calls
💬 Texts
💻 Zoom meetings
📅 Appointments
All working toward one thing:
Financial approval.
And once that piece fell into place?
We moved into the next phase:
➡️ Finding a commercial space
➡️ Legal contracts
➡️ Figuring out logistics (aka… a million moving parts)
It wasn’t quick.
It wasn’t easy.
But it was happening.
And looking back now?
I’m so glad it didn’t come easy.
Because every single bump in that road made me more sure that this was something I was meant to do.
