The Logistics (aka… absolute chaos 😅)

The Logistics (aka… absolute chaos 😅)

If you think buying a business ends with a “yes”…
I regret to inform you—that’s where the real madness begins.

Let’s rewind to September 9th.

That was the day everything hinged on.

Jayd, John, and I presented to the board of Community Futures.
Because of the time difference, Jayd was up ridiculously early.
And me?

I was a full bundle of nerves.

They asked hard questions.
Very serious. Very poker-faced. No hints. No reassurance.

Just… silence and note-taking.

And then at 1:15 PMApproved.

Just like that.

And from that moment?
It was go time.

Immediately we were:

📞 Calling lawyers
📄 Reviewing contracts
🏢 Setting up a new corporation
📅 Locking in a closing date
🤯 Trying to make a million decisions at once

When do we close the website?
When do we announce?
How do we transition everything?

It was insanity.

While Jayd was on her end counting inventory and figuring out how to pack thousands of beads…

I was here:

🏢 Hunting for commercial space
🛡 Setting up insurance
✈️ Booking flights
🚚 Renting a U-Haul
🎨 Painting the warehouse

And here’s the wild part… Only John and I knew.

We were carrying this massive, life-changing secret while everything was unfolding behind the scenes.

And then came the moment I had to share the news.

And WOW.

People were either incredibly supportive… Or very much not. (We’ll unpack that another day 👀)

🚚 The Road Trip That Changed Everything

On October 12th, John and I flew to Calgary.

We grabbed a U-Haul, picked up some of his things from storage, had dinner with friends…
And the next morning?

We hit the road.

But not straight home.

On October 13th, we met Jayd, Patrick, and Miss Emmy for dinner in Saskatoon.

And let me tell you…
None of us slept.

The anticipation of what was coming next was next level.

October 14th — The Big Day

We drove to Blaine Lake.

And honestly?
B&B was probably the biggest thing there 😅

We loaded the truck.
Signed the legal documents electronically.
And just like that…

We drove away with the business.

We celebrated the closing at The Keg… and then promptly collapsed from exhaustion.

🛣 The Drive Home (aka… survival mode)

The next few days? A complete blur.

We were:

😵💫 Punch-drunk tired
👀 Staring at the road nonstop
🦌 Watching for moose and deer
🌲 Driving through stretches of nothing (Northern Ontario is no joke)

And yes…

I had to pee on the side of the road more times than I can count.
With a funnel.
Because survival 😂

By the last day, I was DONE.

I missed Owen.
I was exhausted.
I was overwhelmed.

And if I’m being honest? I was scared.

Because now it was real.

There was so much to do.
So much to learn.
And so many people counting on me.

But underneath all of that?

I was so proud.
And so excited.

We finally made it home late in the evening on the 17th, parked the truck for the night, ate pizza in complete silence (hello exhaustion) and stayed up too late for being that tired!
On the 18th we unloaded the truck. And then… The real work started.
