What Actually Works (According to Someone Who Has No Idea What She's Doing)

Last week I talked about the social media spiral....

You know the one. You spend 20 minutes creating a post, another 20 minutes editing it, and then another 20 minutes questioning every life choice that led you to that post. Then it gets 7 likes.

One from your mom.

One from a bot.

One from that person who likes literally everything.

And you're left wondering why you bothered.

So naturally, I became determined to figure out what actually works.

After months of research (Angie style aka trial & error), overthinking, second-guessing, panic-posting, deleting, reposting, and consuming enough marketing content to earn an honorary degree, I've come to a few conclusions.

The truth: Nobody Knows What They're Doing!!!

Seriously.

The people who look like they have it all figured out? They're guessing too.

Some people are just better at sounding confident while they do it.

The longer I've been running this business, the more I've realized that most of us are figuring things out as we go. Some just have nicer graphics.

Consistency Beats Perfection

This one took me a while to accept.

The post I spend 45 seconds writing sometimes does better than the one I spend 45 minutes obsessing over. I've rewritten captions, changed photos, adjusted wording, and hit publish feeling certain it would do well.

Sometimes it does.

Sometimes it disappears into the void.

Social media can feel completely random, which is why I've stopped chasing perfection and started focusing on simply showing up.

People Like People

I used to think everything needed to look polished.

Perfect photos.

Perfect graphics.

Perfect branding.

But what I've learned is that people connect with people.

I feel like we are naturally nosey and want to know the real human behind the business. The one who occasionally makes mistakes, forgets things, changes plans, and maybe orders too much inventory because it was pretty.

Not that I've ever done that... ahem!

Nobody Cares About Your Mistakes As Much As You Do

I've posted things with typos.

Wrong dates.

Incorrect promo details.

The occasional moment of public embarrassment.

And every single time, I was convinced it was a much bigger deal than it actually was.

The reality is that most people either don't notice or quickly move on. The world keeps spinning, the mistake gets fixed, and life goes on.

It's a lesson I seem to keep learning over and over again.

The Best Content Is Usually The Content You Almost Didn't Post

The posts I've hesitated to share are often the ones people respond to the most.

The behind-the-scenes moments.

The honest stories.

The messy reality of running a business.

The things that make me wonder, "Should I really post this?"

Those are usually the posts that start conversations because they're real.

The Secret Formula

Want to know the secret?

Here it is...

Show up. Be helpful. Be yourself. Repeat.

That's honestly the closest thing to a formula I've found.

No secret hacks. No magic tricks. No sacrificing a goat to the algorithm.

Just consistency and authenticity over time.

Not very exciting, but it works.

My New Approach

These days, I'm trying to spend less time chasing perfection and more time connecting with people.

Less overthinking. More posting.

Less worrying about what everyone thinks. More focusing on the people who already support what I'm doing.

Because those are the people who matter most anyway.

So if you're sitting there rewriting a caption for the tenth time, wondering if a post is good enough, or questioning whether anyone will care...

Just post it.

The worst thing that happens? You get 7 likes. And one of them might be your mom.
